Live and Uncut, Part 2.
This photo of Tony Manfre was the hardest thing for me to keep out of Issue Ten. When we originally shot the article, we wanted for all of the photos to be shot at spots that you don’t see very often and that don’t look like the stuff you see coming out of the Bay Area. This bump to hydrant is in the middle of nowhere and I have no clue how it ever got discovered. Levi Brown had a Gaberman photo of a frontside 360 over it several months, maybe even a year ago.
I had to use the vertical fisheye angle of this shot in order to fit all the text for the article in the zine, and it broke my heart to not use this angle because it’s one of my favorite photos that I’ve shot. I mean, how often do you get to shoot a skate photo with a horse in the background? But, so it goes, and at least you’ll get to see it here.
