If you thought this was going to be a post that gave away the results, you’re wrong.  Instead, there’s even better news:  the results of the contest will be revealed at 8pm on Wednesday, November 25th at HOME Skateshop as part of the premiere of the new Zero video “Strange World.”  So in one night you’ll get to see one of the biggest anticipated videos of this year AND find out how your team did in the best contest to hit Louisville since the Midwest Melee.

Welcome Haters.

A few of us got the call this weekend to go and check out Radley’s mini-ramp that had just been fitted with new hunter green skatelite.  The mini was fun before, a little sketchy slamming and getting splinters but it’s a great size (four feet high, five foot extension), no seems, the best coping I have skated in a while and an amazing vibe around the whole back yard.   Now, it’s on a whole ‘nother level.  Hands down favorite spot in the city.  If you see Radley buy him a beer (or a case)   and slap him on the back/shake his hand and say good job, this dude definitely deserves it…Radley

Pretty much sums it up…
Welcome…

Street Turkey UPDATE.

Okay, there are about 15 teams up and running around the city, and so far, things seems to going well.  We’ve gotten a few questions, so I’ll try and answer them here.

 1.  For the challeges that involve bonus points for stairs, you ADD the points per stair to the trick score.  For example, a switch frontside shove-it is one of the trick challenges for 6-9 stairs.  The trick itself is worth 15 points, and then you ADD 2 POINTS FOR EACH STAIR.  So, if you did the trick down 6 stairs, you’d add 12 points.  If you did it down 9, you’d add 18.  So a switch front shove down 9 stairs is worth 33 points (15 for the trick + 18 for the stair bonus).  Get it?

2.  A Chinese Ollie is where you bonk your front wheels off a crack.  And no, Japanese restaurants don’t count.

3.  A “Crispy” or “Crispy flip” is the Louisville term for an inward heelflip.

4.  And you have to FILM all of these things that you do, otherwise we have no way of proving that you did them.

See you all out there tomorrow!

You know, it always stokes me out to see local photographers putting out good work.  That’s why I’m so psyched on Freelance Radiology.  Travis Stutler is, I think, from the Ashland, KY area, but I know him from Lexington, although it doesn’t really matter.  I’ve never wanted to shoot music photos, but several of his really make me rethink this.  Anyway, spend some time getting to know his work, because you’ll be seeing more of it in the zine soon.  Right Travis?

Street Turkey Shootout Info.

Alright everyone, here’s the latest updated information you’ll need about this weekend’s Street Turkey Shootout.

 1. Every single team member MUST have a signed waiver on file to participate.  You can get the waiver here.  If you aren’t 18, you have to have a parent’s signature.  Any tricks or challenges done by a person without a waiver will not earn points for your team.

2.  Teams have a limit of 5 people.  This includes a filmer.  That means you can have 4 skaters and a filmer, 5 skaters and take turns filming, whatever you wanna do.  But you MUST have a video camera and record your tricks and challenges.  Also, you don’t have to have a full 5 people, but if you don’t, you’ll miss out on some of the full team challenges that will be worth points.

 3.  You will be able to pick up your challenge packets at 4pm on Friday, November 13.  You don’t have to be there right at 4pm, but that’s the earliest you can get the packet.

4.  You MUST have the waivers in for every team member before you get your packet.  If you don’t have all the team members waivers, then only those with waivers on file will be allowed to be part of your team and earn points.

If you have other questions, just post them in the comments section and someone I’ll try and answer them as best I can.

In what I hope becomes a new on-going series of short clips, Mikey Roges gets a few tricks in the newest video on the site, So Artsy.  Mikey is one of a big handful of dudes putting in some serious work lately, so look for more of these (hopefully).
